DANVILLE — Danville Village Council members received some help Monday as they discuss possible changes in the village water rates.

Lonnie McGhee of McGhee Technical Water Services gave council some information and tips on the best way to solve the village’s issue of solvency within the water fund. By law, the water fund must be self-sustaining, but in recent years, it is losing money. Council is considering raising the water rates in an effort to keep from having a deficit in the fund.

McGhee noted that it would be easier on village residents and better for the village in the long run if the rates are increased slightly each year for a few years.
