MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon High School graduate Cole McDonough may feel a twinge of anxiety before he steps before the judges who will decide who will be the next “man out front” of The Ohio State University Marching Band. But, McDonough said, “I think once I get out there on the field, my brain will switch and everything I’ve been practicing will come through.”

McDonough is trying out for the 2013 Ohio State Marching Band drum major position on Thursday at 5 p.m. The event was originally planned for the Woody Hayes Athletic Center but has been moved to the marching band practice field near the Lincoln Towers.
