UTICA — A trio of young scientists will represent Utica High School at Saturday’s State Science Day — sophomores Jacob Fincato, Jacob Hart and Mary McKinley.
Hart, who went to state last year, explored whether alpaca manure or chicken manure is a better fertilizer for bean plants. He selected this topic because his family owns an alpaca farm, and hopes his findings will help the alpaca industry. His findings indicate that alpaca manure works better because it has less nitrogen in it.
