MOUNT VERNON — Knox County voters gave a resounding vote of approval to the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities, supporting renewal of its levy by a margin of 64.5 percent to 35.5 percent.

The final vote was 6,611 for the levy to 3,636 against as only 25.25 percent of registered voters made it to the polls.

“We want to thank the community for supporting people with disabilities,” said Board Superintendent Steve Oester.

The levy means the board will continue to be able to provide services to people with disabilities for another 10 years, Oester said.
