MOUNT VERNON — Prom season is upon us, and students at the Knox County Career Center on Friday got a graphic reminder of the dangers of distracted driving when Students Against Destructive Decisions and area emergency personnel staged a mock crash.

The scenario was a two-car head-on collision caused by one driver texting while driving. The crash resulted in injuries to passengers in both cars, including one death and one passenger with very serious injuries.
