DANVILLE — Dozens of Danville students and staff members braved chilly temperatures and cloudy skies Tuesday morning to spruce up around the school buildings and the village for the annual community service day. The activity continued into the afternoon as well.
On a totally volunteer basis, teams of students and adult supervisors picked up trash, pulled weeds, spread mulch and planted flowers in various places around the school buildings and around town. The creek bed by the school got some attention, as did the track, concession stand and board office. Art students painted the dugouts and other pupils worked on the playground, children’s garden and parking lot areas.
Tyler Robinson said he was having fun cleaning up around the guardrail by the elementary playground. “We’re picking weeds to make the school look better,” he told the News.
