MOUNT VERNON — Tasty treats and tidbits were the result when talented culinary students teamed up with professional chefs Friday for the 2013 Pro-Am Culinary Arts cook off.
Each of the two teams was comprised of three students and three professional chefs. The students were all star cooks chosen Thursday during the Ohio Culinary Arts Invitational cook off and the chefs with whom the students cooked had served as judges Thursday.
Given a list of ingredients, each team had to plan a brunch menu, prepare, present and serve the brunch to fellow chef students and other spectators as well as to the judges.
The results were evaluated by judges Susan Kahrl, Samantha Scoles and Bruce Hawkins, who gave scores based on the food’s appearance, overall taste, variety and service.
