MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Jail will probably receive a 100 percent rating from the state jail inspector, Sheriff Dave Shaffer told the county commissioners Monday at their regular meeting.

Shaffer said the inspector was here Friday and when Lt. Penny Lamp provides the paperwork on a pair of reports, the inspector said he expected to give the jail the high rating.

Shaffer said the inspector did suggest giving a little more opportunity for “time outside” in the exercise yard.
