MOUNT VERNON — The availability of funding options for Ohio Department of Transportation road and bridge construction projects was the focus of a report Thursday morning when ODOT District 5 Director Joe Rutherford met with the Knox County Board of Commissioners. Joining Rutherford for his presentation was Chris Moore, ODOT transportation administrator for Knox County.
District 5 encompasses more than 3,700 lane miles of road and includes almost 1,100 bridges. “Almost 100 percent of all the money that ODOT takes in comes from fuel taxes,” said Rutherford. This comes from state and federal taxes which total between 46-52 cents per gallon of fuel.
