MOUNT VERNON — Legislation on Tuesday’s city council agenda will increase the amount the city will pay for the bowstring truss bridge restoration.

Safety/Service Director Dave Glass said the city was notified this week by the Ohio Department of Transportation that, as a result of the bids on the restoration project, the city’s share of the contract will be $5,052 higher. However, Glass said, the total will still be below the original estimate on which the donations of Ariel Foundation and the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon & Knox County were based, so it will simply mean that a little bit less will be returned to the two private donors.
