UTICA — Saturday’s weather was perfect for the 39th Utica Sertoma Old Fashioned Ice Cream Festival. Held on the grounds of Ye Olde Mill and across the road at the Energy Cooperative building, the ice cream festival has something for every member of the family. Velvet Ice Cream is the biggest draw, and the ice cream eating contests come in a close second, but there are also other festival food vendors, tours of Ye Olds Mill, arts and crafts, live entertainment, pony rides and cruise-ins. New for this year were inflatable bounce houses, a kids’ craft center and the OSU Experience area where children could kick a field goal or shoot a basketball. Novelty ice cream flavors created for the event included sweet and salty caramel and chocolate cookies and cream.
