DANVILLE — The Danville High School Class of 2013 will be remembered for its tenacity and competitiveness in class and out, said commencement speaker Carol Newbold at Saturday evening’s graduation ceremony.
The fourth-grade teacher, chosen as the speaker by the class, recalled how they would set goals when she had them in class, and celebrate when they met them, such as when the class met an 85 percent goal on a fractions test, then celebrated with a snowball fight on the baseball field.
As she became more serious, she told the graduates, “Your journey is just beginning. You are at the starting gate. You have an abundance of opportunities ahead.”
