MORRIS TOWNSHIP — The Morris Township Board of Zoning Appeals failed to reach an agreement on a conditional use permit for a livestock gathering and transfer facility next to Ohio 13 in the township. The board deadlocked 2-2 on whether to grant the permit, so now Zoning Inspector Dennis Suain said he would have to consult with the county prosecutor to see what they do now.
There are actually five members of the board, but only four attended the meeting. Chair Dale Abbereg and Paul Eberwine voted to grant the permit; Joe Gallon and Ned Shafer voted no.
The board spent more than an hour listening to Jeff Harding, senior vice president of Livestock Marketing for Producers Inc. outline the proposal for the facility, and hearing questions and fears expressed by residents of the area.
