JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — Kevin Mooney rents cabins to tourists at Mohican Cabins on Vess Road in Jefferson Township. He’s next door to the tree Frog Canopy Tours zip line and the Mohican Wilderness mountain bike trails and only 15 minutes from the Loudonville canoe liveries on the scenic Mohican River. He hopes he’s onto something that will make his facility even more popular.
On June 21, the construction of his second treehouse cabin will be featured on Animal Planet’s “Treehouse Masters.” Camera crews from the series spent four weeks documenting the construction of the cabin, designed and built by renowned treehouse builder Pete Nelson of Seattle, along with a local team of Amish carpenters.
Nelson also designed Mooney’s first cabin, built last year, which received its finishing touches this spring.
