GAMBIER — The words spectacular, beautiful and awesome are inadequate when one is referring to the gorgeous and meticulously maintained gardens of Ted and Ann Schnormeier. Inspired by Japanese and Chinese gardens, the Schnormeier estate features nine discrete gardens scattered over 75 landscaped acres surrounding the couple’s Frank Lloyd Wright-style residence. Whimsical sculptures abound and various structures add to the visual delights.
The public is invited to view the gardens during an annual open house, which is in full swing this week.
“We enjoy giving other people the opportunity to enjoy the gardens,” Ted Schnormeier told the News. “We get a lot of pleasure out of it so, why not?”
