MOUNT VERNON -- The implementation of all-day every-day kindergarten classes was the major topic discussed when the Mount Vernon City Schools Board of Education met in a special work session June 6, and the board is giving serious consideration to making the schedule change at the start of the 2013-14 school year.

MOUNT VERNON -- Extensive damage to a sunroom was the result of a car crashing into a house in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street on Tuesday morning. Officers with the Mount Vernon Police Department and Mount Vernon Fire Department responded to the crash which involved three vehicles.
