MOUNT VERNON — Extensive damage to a sunroom was the result of a car crashing into a house in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street on Tuesday morning. Officers with the Mount Vernon Police Department and Mount Vernon Fire Department responded to the crash which involved three vehicles.
Cited for failure to stop at a stop sign was Kimberly Orsborn, 57, Mount Vernon. A report from MVPD stated that as Orsborn approached Chestnut Street, while northbound on McArthur Street, she hit her accelerator instead of her brake, sideswiping a car stopped at the intersection. Orsborn continued into Chestnut Street, striking the rear of a pickup truck and continuing over the curb and coming to rest after striking the house.
Two boys were in the room where the car entered the house. One boy was uninjured, and the other had minor injuries to his back and toes. The children’s grandmother was attending the boys and was uninjured.
Orsborn was said to be wearing her seat belt. She was cared for at the scene by paramedics and was reported to be uninjured. Drivers of the other vehicles also reported no injuries.
