  • It’s hay making season and farmers in Knox County are working long hours in the great weather. Wednesday afternoon Dale Aberegg, who farms on Old Mansfield Road north of Mount Vernon, was making round bales in this heavy cutting of mixed grass and a little clover in a 10-acre field next to the road. Ned Shafer came to rake the hay, speeding up the baling process. The farm, circled by wood fencing, was once owned by Clair Rice, a Mount Vernon farm implement dealer. style=
