CENTERBURG — Clear blue skies and ideal temperatures graced the grounds of the Heart of Ohio USA Days Festival at Centerburg Memorial Park on Friday. Festival visitors were taking advantage of the cooperative weather while they had the chance to enjoy some music and view some antique cars.

A classic car show was located on the north end of the festival grounds where some new classics as well as some old ones were on display. Bringing his 1932 black Plymouth to the show was George Ruark of Mount Liberty. Ruark, who travels to many classic car shows in the area including the First Friday events in Mount Vernon, said he came to see the Shirelles in concert. “We come here every year for the cars and entertainment,” he said.

Serving on the festival staff on Friday was Betty Loudermilk, who makes sure the park stays clean. “So far, the festival’s been pretty good, as long as the rain stays away,” said Loudermilk. “There’s been some spotty rain off and on. But tonight and Saturday should be good,” she said, noting the big attractions being the Shirelles on Friday and the grand parade on Saturday.

Candy McCracken, grand marshal for Saturday’s parade, said she talked to a couple attending from Ann Arbor, Mich. “They always pick out different festivals to attend, and this year was our turn,” said McCracken.
