MOUNT VERNON — “A Celebration of Family History” is the topic of the first two Brown Bag Chats — Wednesday and Wednesday, Feb. 9 — at noon at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry St.
Thousands gathered on April 29, 2010, at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, to celebrate family history with award-winning author David McCullough and President Henry B. Eyring of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A film of the conference includes musical numbers by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra, as well as video vignettes showing remarkable family history has on those who embrace it
Leading the program will be Winifred Shores, the Family History Library Director in the Mount Vernon Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Though not a professional genealogist, Shores has been doing research for over 40 years.
The Brown Bag Chats, sponsored by the Adult Services Department of he public library, are free and open to the public. Public is welcome and bring a bag lunch. Beverages will be provided.
