GAMBIER — The ensemble Istanpitta will perform music from the Middle Ages at Kenyon College in a free concert on Friday at 8 p.m.
Istanpitta is composed of three to five musicians who embrace music written in the 10th to 14th century in Europe. A wide range of instruments are used, including recorder, flute, medieval harp, bagpipes, and vocals to deliver dynamic versions and interpretations of the period’s music. Istanpitta was formed in 1994 to perform medieval dance music at the University of Texas and now travels across the United States to perform in concert.
The group will appear at Brandi Recital Hall in Storer Hall, 105 College Drive. The performance is part of the Taylor Concert Series, sponsored by the Kenyon Department of Music. To learn more, contact Donna Maloney at maloneyd@kenyon.edu and 427-5197.
