DANVILLE — Danville Area Seniors will gather Thursday, Feb. 17, for a lunch, conversation and entertainment at noon at St. Luke Community Center in Danville.

Hosts for the day will be the Advisory Board. Meat loaf, baked potato, buttered beets, tossed salad, rolls, angel food cake with cherry topping and beverage make up the luncheon menu. There is a suggested donation for lunch; reservations are due by Monday. Contact Barb Mickley (599-7102) or Marty Neighbarger at 599-2930.

Guest for the day will be Richard Cowdrey, graphic illustrator from southeastern Knox County. Cowdrey is originally from Cincinnati and graduated from The Columbus College of Art and Design. He worked briefly at Hallmark Greeting Cards in Kansas City, Mo., and has been a freelance illustrator working with many distinguished clients for many years. Cowdrey shares his talent with many schools encouraging children to pursue their artistic talents. He has done illustrations for a wide range of companies, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Bantam books, Chase Manhattan Bank, Ducks Unlimited, Honda, Parker Brothers, National Football League, Ross Labs and National Hockey League, to name just a few.

A representative of Paragraphs Bookstore will be present with books illustrated by Cowdrey — “Marley Goes to School,” “Bad Dog Marley,” “Marley and the Kittens,” “The Sandman,” “This is the Day” and “Animals on the Go.” Cowdrey has also illustrated the covers of “The Guardian of Ga’hoole” series by Kathryn Lasky. These books will be on sale at the luncheon and customers purchasing or ordering books this day will receive a 20 percent discount.
