MOUNT VERNON — A Wildlife Conservation Open House, sponsored by the Knox Soil & Water Conservation District, will be held Thursday, March 17, from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Dan Emmett Conference Center, 160 Howard St., Mount Vernon.

The featured guest speakers will be Chris Henney, Ohio Farm Bureau; and Mike Tonkovich, Ph.D., ODNR Division of Wildlife, state deer biologist. There will also be antler scoring.

Exhibitors will be on hand to answer questions, promote conservation practices, hunting opportunities, activities, membership benefits, volunteer opportunities, cost share programs and services.

Exhibitors will include: Quality Deer Management Association, Ohio Division of Wildlife, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, USDA Wildlife Services, Duck Unlimited, Buckeye Big Buck Club, Owl Creek Conservancy, Pheasants Forever, Ohio Division of Forestry, Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Farm Bureau, Knox County Park District and Knox Soil & Water Conservation District.

Conservation and wildlife exhibits will be open to the public from 5 to 9 p.m. Henney will present “Efforts to Increase Hunter Access and Reduce Deer Damage on Farms,” from 6 to 7:15 p.m., and from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m., Tonkovich will talk about “Ohio’s Deer Program: Projects, Populations and Projections.”
