NEWARK Southeastern Ohio Legal Services offers free legal services to low-income individuals living in the Danville and eastern Knox County area. The next intake date is Friday, Feb. 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. Free civil legal services are also offered to seniors living in Knox County. The next intake day will be Friday, Feb. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Station Break, Mount Vernon.

SEOLS can provide a wide variety of legal services such as advice or legal representation in housing matters, foreclosure, domestic relations and child support, public benefits such as Food Stamps and Ohio Works First benefits, consumer and debt problems, simple wills and probate matters, powers of attorney, and Social Security denials and terminations.

Anyone needing legal services can call toll-free 888-831-9412 to see if they are eligible. If eligible, an application will be completed over the phone and an appointment will be scheduled. It is preferable to call and schedule an appointment; however, walk-ins are welcome.

If a legal problem cannot wait until the next interview day, interviews can be done over the phone. Knox County is served by the Newark SEOLS office. The office is at 15 W. Locust St., Newark, and it is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office is closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.
