MOUNT VERNON — “Mystery Writing with Doug White” is the topic for the Brown Bag Chat on Wednesday at noon at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry St.
Author Doug White is a former schoolteacher and camp counselor, but has always had an eye for the open road. He drove a big truck cross-country for 13 years. He started writing in 1999, turned in his big truck for good in 2003, bought an RV, and hasn’t looked back. He will present his “family friendly” mystery series featuring Jake Winters, and sign copies of his books.
White is a graduate of Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Va., and a graduate of Ashland College (now Ashland University) in Ashland, Ohio. He resides in Orchard Park, N.Y. During his free time he enjoys camping, canoeing and fishing.
White calls his mystery novels featuring Jake Winters “family friendly,” because there is no objectionable language or events in the books. Jake has interesting adventures, and solves crimes in the midst of them. He begins as a “convenient Christian,” but as the series progresses, Jake’s faith improves and deepens.
The Brown Bag Chat, sponsored by the Adult Services Department of the public library, is free and open to the public. Come and bring a bag lunch. Beverages will be provided. For more information call 392-2665, ext. 230.
