MOUNT VERNON — The 2011 Knox County Goat Improvement Association’s Second Annual Goat Banquet will be Saturday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 200 N. Main St., Mount Vernon.

All goat breeders, farmers or enthusiasts are invited to dinner and to hear speaker Joe Logan, director of agricultural programs at the Ohio Environmental Council.

Logan served as the director of governmental affairs for the Ohio Farms Union from 2006 until joining the OEC in the fall of 2008. Prior to taking that position at Ohio Farms Union, he served as the organization’s president from 2002-06. He also served on the board of directors of the National Farmers Union during the same interval, where he chaired the Finance Committee.

He serves as the co-chairman of the board of directors of the Coalition for a Prosperous America, and is past president and current board member of the Ohio Conference on Fair Trade. He has served as the president of the National Association of Farmer Elected Committees, where he represented locally elected administrators of Federal Agricultural Programs. He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Dairy Farms of America, the nation’s largest dairy cooperative, and vice chairman of it predecessor Milk Marketing Inc.

There is a charge per person or per couple for the banquet. For tickets or information call Christine Hohman at 397-7607 or Bill Belton at 392-0724
