MOUNT VERNON — A celebration of music and poetry will be held at Sips Coffee House and Deli, 124 S. Main St., Mount Vernon, on Tuesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The featured artists are Mitch Matthew, Hannah Stephenson and Alex Fabrizio.
Matthew doesn’t adhere to any particular style of poetry. He is a former kindergarten teacher, shoe salesman, world traveler, Food Channel addict and tennis buff. Stephenson is a poet, instructor, editor and singer/songwriter. Her poems have appeared in ouroboros review, Mankind Magazine, Spoonful, The Birmingham Arts Journal and anthologies from Lazy Gramophone Press. She has updated her blog, The Storialist, every weekday since July 2008.
Fabrizio wears her poetry from the beaches of Florida to the classrooms of OSU. She is an MFA student of poetry.
The featured musician is Roger Lehman, who has been composing, recording and performing original material for over 30 years. He has done everything from recording soundtracks for Cable TV fishing programs, to performing with The Crystals, Lester Flatt and the great blues harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite. He performs solo, playing finger style acoustic guitar, piano and singing. He also performs with his instrumental duet (piano and amp; woodwinds) and his four-piece jazz quartet.
The artists’ work will be available for purchase. An open mic will follow the evening’s entertainment. The master of ceremonies will be poet Mark Hersman. The event is free, for more information contact Hersman at email@example.com.
