MOUNT VERNON — The grand opening of the Walk-In Clinic inside Foster’s Pharmacy, 207 W. High St., Mount Vernon, will be Monday, May 2. The public is invited to an open house prior to the grand opening on Friday, April 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
WIC is a walk-in/first come/first serve facility, taking care of minor medical conditions. It will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Phyllis A. Sim, MSN, CNP, in collaboration with Mark A. Buddie, M.D., will provide care for minor non-life threatening medical conditions and injuries.
WIC is not classified as an urgent care facility, therefore does not operate at urgent care prices. Patients without medical coverage will be treated on a fee-for-service schedule, depending on the treatment they receive. All major medical plans will be billed the usual rates for services rendered, resulting in a co-pay of zero to $20, depending on the insurance plan.
Of special note, WIC is not a primary care facility and cannot see patients for chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes, with no intention of taking patients away from their primary care physician. Sim, pointed out that WIC is the place to go for cases of coughs, colds, flu symptoms, minor injuries, for children from age 2 through adults up to age 75.
Patients with chest pains, possible fractures, and significant abdominal pain should report to the local emergency room, as usual, or call 9-1-1.
