MOUNT VERNON — The monthly presentation of “Out with the Old, In with the New” will take place today from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Knox County Health Department as part of the agency’s monthly late clinic.

“Out with the Old, In with the New” is taught by Taryn Boyd, a physical therapist with the health department’s home health care program. Topics covered in the class include: What to expect while in the hospital, after surgery and when you get home; plus home health services and the importance of physical therapy. The class is free and open to the public, regardless of where you are having your surgery. No pre-registration is required for the class.

The health department offers extended hours on the third Tuesday of every month.

Medical clinic services available during the extended hours include TB tests, immunizations for both children and adults, including Tetanus shots and all shots required for school; rapid testing for HIV and STD counseling. The dental clinic will be open for scheduled appointments.

Additional services available during the extended hours include birth and death records, water and well permits, water testing, food service permits and WIC nutritional counseling.
