MOUNT VERNON — On Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m., the Knox County Symphony will host its third annual spring gala, sponsored by Ariel Corp., at the Mount Vernon Country Club on Martinsburg Road. The theme of the gala is “Waltz the Night Away.”

The evening includes an all-you-can-eat gourmet buffet, as well as a complimentary open bar. A demonstration of the waltz will be offered by Sarah Kepple and Andrew Harant. A mini basic waltz lesson will be provided by Magic McBride, symphony board president and former New York dancer.

The evening will also include a live auction, “conducted” by Dr. Benjamin Locke, conductor of the symphony. Rumors persist of a special guest appearance by Johann Strauss Jr., “The Viennese Waltz King.” Musical entertainment will be provided by members of the Knox County Symphony.

Tickets for the gala are available at Paragraphs Bookstore and Vino in Mount Vernon, Middle Ground Cafe and the Village Inn in Gambier, Trinity Farms Natural Foods on Ohio 13 south of Bellville, and Malabar Farms. Tickets may also be purchased by contacting Sara Lynn Kerr at 740-392-0597. Reservations are requested by today.

All ticket revenue and additional contributions will be directed to the Knox County Symphony’s Fund for the Future to ensure the strength of the musical arts in the community.

The gala weekend will conclude with the final symphony concert of the 2010-11 season, which will be held at Kenyon College’s Rosse Hall on Sunday at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.
