MOUNT VERNON — As part of the First Friday activities in downtown Mount Vernon on Friday, May 6, HopeNow is sponsoring a Silent Auction in the former CandyLand store at 120 S. Main St. (next to The Alcove Restaurant). Up for auction will be a variety of quilts (many of them hand-quilted), afghans and other craft items. Bidding will begin at 1 p.m. and close at 9 p.m.
The proceeds from the auction will benefit HopeNow Inc., a local 501(3)(c) charitable organization that collects gently used household furnishings from donors and distributes them free of charge to Knox County residents in need.
During the past year HopeNow has helped over 500 families. Donations are tax deductible. For more information or to make a donation, call 740-358-1277.
