MOUNT VERNON — The Mohican Basin Landowners’ Association, will hold an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Vernon Academy, 511 Wooster Road, Mount Vernon.
Featured speaker will include Thomas Tugend, deputy director of Mineral Resources Management for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Tugend will have a PowerPoint presentation regarding the recent Uitca shale oil and gas discovery under Knox County. After Tugend speaks, there will be a brief period for questions and answers. ODNR has provided several informative free pamphlets that will be available after the meeting.
Carl Ayers, president of the landowners’ association, will provide a brief history of the the association including the current total membership and the number of acres of land that the association represents. Because of the recent influx of oil and gas leasing agents with their one-page lease documents, the association has created a 28-page lease agreement which they say will provide greater protection for the landowner.
The meeting will be in the auditorium on the second floor of the administration building. Seating is limited to 196; however, there is plenty of parking both in front of the administration building and behind by the gymnasium.
A donation at the door is requested to help pay for association printing costs. For questions or directions call Dave Shafer at (740) 599-9900.
