MOUNT VERNON — The Heritage Centre’s annual First Friday season will kick off Friday in downtown Mount Vernon.

The Main Stage will be located on the south end of the Public Square from 6 to 9 p.m. with live music from local jazz band, Padula Oblongata.

Back by popular demand is the monthly Cruise-In, voted in the Cruisin’ Times Magazine’s top ten Cruise Ins for the past two seasons, moving up to No. 4 in 2010 from No. 6 in 2009. Cars will be on display around Public Square. There is no fee to register and a gift will be given to the first 30 registrants along with door prizes donated by local businesses drawn throughout the event.

Additional activities on the square will include a bounce house benefiting the Vineyard Youth Group and a football toss game to benefit the Knox County Colt Football League. The Kids Corner activities will include Sophia’s Petting Zoo, balloon sculptor Rex Naylor and the new corn hole tournament for the whole family. Contact Krystal Drye at First-Knox National Bank to sign up for tournament at 399-5122.

Several exhibitors will also have displays available. In addition to the restaurants available in downtown Mount Vernon, food from G&G Concessions will be available.
