MOUNT VERNON — The East Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization will host a carnival-style Fun Fair on Friday, May 13, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at East Elementary School in Mount Vernon. Students, parents, friends, neighbors, and community members are all invited. With over 30 games and activities (and prizes) in every classroom and outside, there will be interactive fun for the whole family.
Attendees will find four bounce houses, free-throw contests, and an egg-and-spoon race on the playground. Inside, there will be a hula hoop contest, face painting, cake walk, take-home craft, dinosaur dig, washable tattoos, ring toss, duck pond, and many other fun activities. Certain games geared for young children guarantee a prize for each player. Fair-goers may purchase dinner in the gymnasium, where the concession stand will sell hot dogs, pizza, cotton candy, popcorn, candy, slushies and beverages.
A silent auction of class gifts and items donated from generous local businesses will take place in the gym. Some of the 61 brand new items up for auction are a professional photography package worth over $300, golf for four at Apple Valley, Reds-Indians baseball tickets, power tools, jewelry, scrapbooking supplies, Mary Kay gifts, garden and outdoor items, subscriptions to the Mount Vernon News, and many other items and gift cards. Raffle tickets may be purchased before the day of the Fun Fair for a chance to win an OSU football signed by Archie Griffin.
Fun Fair game tickets may be purchased at the door. East Elementary School is at 714 E. Vine St., Mount Vernon. Questions can be directed to Leslie Buehrer at 397-1426.
