GAMBIER — “Friday Night Lights” author H.G. “Buzz” Bissinger will visit Kenyon College on Thursday to discuss writing and his career in sports and investigative journalism.
Bissinger’s lecture and a discussion that follows take place at 8 p.m. in Rosse Hall, 105 College Drive. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
In addition to “Friday Night Lights,” which launched a feature film and a television series by the same name, Bissinger has written the non-fiction books “A Prayer for the City,” “3 Nights in August” and “Shooting Stars,” which was co-written with LeBron James.
His journalism career has included work at the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Chicago Tribune and the Philadelphia Inquirer, where he and two colleagues won a Pulitzer Prize in 1987 for a six-part investigative series on the Philadelphia court system. His stories have also appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Sports Illustrated and Vanity Fair, where he is a contributing editor. Bissinger has also done teleplay and screenwriting work and was a writer for the television series NYPD Blue.
