CENTERBURG — The Heart of Ohio Women’s Club announces that at the Heart of Ohio USA Days Festival this June, they will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the annual Little Miss Liberty and Little Uncle Sammy pageant.
The event began in 2002 in the town park after the new gazebo was dedicated in 2000. When the USA Days Festival was reborn, the festivities now take place as part of that festival, with this year’s date being Thursday, June 28, at 7 p.m.
All former Miss Libertys and Uncle Sammys will be invited to return for this special event which will take place just prior to the 2012 pageant. If any of these children have moved from the area, it is hoped there are relatives still in the Centerburg area who can get word to them. The winners and dates are as follows: 2002 winners are McKenzie Lannigan and Grayson Payne who will be high school freshmen this fall. For 2003, Tierra Ross and Jesse Noble; for 2004, Courtney Melick and Drake Swigart; for 2005, Makayla Readnour and Trenton Ball; for 2006, Macy Burke and Hayden Hankinson; for 2007, Nevaeh Smith and Adam Gamble; for 2008, Mickayla Hinton and Braden Gamble; for 2009, Julianna Bush and Blake Johnson; for 2010, Nevaeh O’Riley and Colvin Guthrie; and for 2011, Allison Moore and Dawson Hinton.
As the festival draws closer, the former winners will be contacted personally to arrange the festivities.
