MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Nazarene University will host the ninth annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast on Monday, Jan. 16, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Dining Commons in the Hyson Campus Center. The event is presented by the Dr. King Legacy Committee and is free and open to the public. The featured speaker will be Kelley J. Hubbard of Diehl-Whitaker Funeral Services.

She attended The Ohio State University and The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and has been employed in the funeral industry since 1984.
As a widely-recognized figure in the industry and a recipient of many awards for her service and dedication, Hubbard is more fulfilled by the long list of satisfied families who have trusted her with their loved ones. Hubbard also started a positive support group, Project Me, assisting those who strive for healthier mental, physical, and spiritual lifestyles.
The program will also include a variety of speakers and vocalists, as well as selections performed by MVNU’s United Generations Gospel Choir and Praise Dancers. The 2011 “Spirit of the Vision” award will also be presented, and a number of special community guests will be on hand.
