GAMBIER — Local health and environmental advocates are seeking exhibitors for Knox County’s Sixth Annual Earth Day Festival, to be held Sunday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kenyon Athletic Center in Gambier.

Under the banner “Healthy People, Healthy World,” organizers strive to create a fun family event where visitors can connect with environmental and health-related resources and learn how these two topics are connected.

The event planning committee, comprised of the BFEC, Knox County Health Department, Knox Community Hospital and Knox County Park District, is now accepting exhibitor registration. Space is available at no charge to local individuals, groups, organizations and businesses with a message, cause, product or service that addresses environmental or health-related topics.

Organizers are especially interested in local vendors or artists who offer products made of recycled or green materials.

“Buying recycled helps keeps our air clean by reducing pollution from the manufacture of new material,” said Heather Doherty, BFEC Program Manager. “Environmental and health issues can seem daunting, but this is one easy way we can all make a difference and support local cottage industries.”

Last year, more than 1,500 people attended the event, which included over 60 booths and demonstrations. The festival is held in conjunction with the Earth Day Challenge Marathon and 1/2-Marathon, in which approximately 600 runners will compete.

In addition to exhibits and retail vendors, the Earth Day Festival will once again feature free health screenings, live music, locally grown food vendors, farm animal petting zoo and kids’ activity zone.

For more information or exhibitor registration, contact Heather Doherty at the Brown Family Environmental Center at 427-5052 or
