MOUNT VERNON — “Birds, Blooms and Butterflies — Gardening for Wildlife” will be the next Brown Bag Chat on Wednesday, March 14, at noon at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County. Heather Doherty of the Brown Family Environmental Center will get everyone geared up for spring with tips on attracting birds and butterflies to their backyard with native plants.

Native plants are from the Midwest and offer the best food sources and places to raise young for Ohio wildlife. Even better, they are extremely low-maintenance. Learn about some of the best plants to use, the birds and butterflies that they will attract, and other tips on enlivening the yard.

The program is free and open to the public, and is made possible through the KC to KC — Kenyon College to Knox County — program. Participants can bring a brown bag lunch. Beverages will be provided. For information contact the main library at 201 N. Mulberry St., 740-392-2665, ext. 243, email or visit
