GRANVLLE — Vintage Voices of Granville will celebrate the arrival of spring and the joy of the Lenten season with a program of choral music on Palm Sunday, April 1, at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville.
Featuring mostly sacred music, this Easter presentation , titled “Season of Promise,” will include favorites including “Via Dolorosa” and “Soldiers Wove a Crown of Thorns” as well as numbers celebrating the beauty of spring and nature. Another number, “Pie Jesu,” will feature duet by boy soprano Collin Bradbury from Centenary’s children’s choir and Vintage Voices member Vicki Sussman accompanied by the chorus.
Vintage Voices will also present their spring program at three other venues in the area. The choir will sing on Saturday, March 24, at 1:30 p.m. at The Inn at SharonBrooke in Newark; on the following Saturday, March 31, at 1:30 p.m. at Chapel Grove Inn, Heath; and on Tuesday, April 10, at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 65 N. Third St., Newark, for a meeting of the National Association of Retired Employeesx.
Now under the direction of Charles Beck of Alexandria, Vintage Voices is a chorus of approximately 70 singers, all 50 years of age or older, and is accompanied by Marcia Brannon of Newark. The choir performs three major concerts annually at Christmas, spring and Fourth of July. Vintage Voices does not charge for performances but donations to help defray expenses are accepted.
