MOUNT VERNON — Each year, the Future Nurses Club at Knox Community Hospital presents a Teen Talk lecture. This year’s presentation will be Monday, April 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Urgent Care Education Room, 1490 Coshocton Road. The topic is “Adolescent Substance Abuse” and the event is open to all area teens as well as parents.
Teen substance abuse varies from experimental use to addiction and effects kids of all social and economic levels. The consequences associated with adolescents using drugs can last a lifetime. Barb Dean, RN, EMT-P from Grant Medical Center-Life Link and Sgt. Michael Kemmer of the Ohio Highway Patrol are the presenters. Their information is of value to teens themselves as well as their parents.
The evening offers an opportunity for teens to learn about this issue in a relaxed atmosphere; both presenters will be available for questions and answers.
Anyone whose teen is interested in attending is asked to encourage them to join April 2. Parents who would like more information can call Luann Hess at 740-393-9606.
