CENTERBURG — This weekend, the Centerburg High School Drama Department will present “The Wedding Singer” in the high school auditorium. The curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 2:30 on Sunday.
Set in 1985, rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He is the life of the party, until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own.
Then enters Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. The only trouble is Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever. With a brand new score that pays homage to the pop songs of the 1980s, “The Wedding Singer” takes the audience back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. The lead roles of Robbie Hart and Julia Sullivan will be played by seniors Brady Mathias and Abby Altizer.
Supporting roles will be played by Jared Grumney, Ashlee Noland, Gabriella Sanchez, Josh Teale, Eleni Teegarden, Becca Trumble, and Bryce Trumble.
Ensemble members include Paige Bennett, Ashley Clark, Trey Caldwell, Zoe Compton, Willis Fannin, Amber Ferko, Hannah Hebenthal, Amanda Karr, Holly Keener, Sara Keener, Tara Keener, Austin Nininger, Cody Nininger, Matt Pozderac, Tyler Scowden, Stephanie Skeen, Felicia Smith, Bailee White, and Anna Wolford.
Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the show, starting an hour prior to the show. All tickets are general admission. For ticketing or any further information, contact the Centerburg High School office at 625-6055.
