JELLOWAY The rapidly growing grassroots group called the Stewards of the Land will meet Saturday, May 5 at 9 a.m. in the Jelloway Methodist Church to hear an update on getting local laws passed to protect the land and all citizens, if they chose to enter oil and gas leases or not. The current land grab for mineral rights along with new injection wells, three Utica shale drilling operations, the selling of Muskingham Conservancy waters to frackers without public comment or vote, and current laws that utilize eminent domain to extract from the land of those who choose not to drill have encouraged Knox, Ashland, Holmes, Richland, Wayne and Morrow residents to band together to demand more representation.

The main speaker will be geology professor Bill Reinthal who has been acclaimed for his informative presentation of the geology of Ohio. His talk and visuals will aid in understanding the reasons for the boom and separate real concerns from the hype.

The mission of Stewards of the Land is to provide information which will help protect our natural resources and our civil liberties. All gatherings are for the public and have no fee. For more information, contact 599-7924.
