MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University Treble Singers will perform today at 8 p.m. in the Thorne Performance Hall.
The theme for the evening is “Hearts Full of Praise, and a Cups Full of Coffee.” The 24-voice choir will present highlights from their spring concert tours to churches in Ohio and Kentucky, singing some hymn and gospel song arrangements as well as sacred classics by recognized contemporary composers such as Ola Gjeila, Craig Courtney, Moses Hogan, and Paul Caldwell. They will also share, in an informal coffee house setting, some popular classics from recent years including “Java Jive,” “Taylor the Latte Boy,” Bacharach’s “I Say A Little Prayer for You,” the Beatle’s “Penny Lane,” and “Children will Listen” from “Into the Woods.”
After the concert, a coffee sampling provided by local coffee houses will be provided along with other special treats. The choir is under the direction of Virginia Cameron. Admission is free and open to the public.
