FREDERICKTOWN — On May 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fredericktown Local School (111 Stadium Drive), the Fredericktown EMS, Fredericktown Police Department, American Red Cross and AmeriCorps have partnered to present to the public a “Disaster Education/Safety Day.”
In the community everyone needs to be better educated in safety and in disaster preparedness for family households and businesses. This event will not only give everyone valuable preparedness information but it will also demonstrate how well prepared the fire departments, rescue squads, police and emergency services are ready for any emergency and/or disaster.
The plan is to conduct this event outside but if Mother Nature sees differently, it will be moved inside the school.
The following companies and organizations will be represented:
AEP — Electrical Safety; Med-Flight Helicopter; State Patrol Helicopter; Knox Community Hospital; Knox County Health Department; Knox County Medical Reserve Core; Fredericktown Fire, EMS & Police; Knox County Dog Warden; 9-1-1 EMA; Red Cross of Knox County; Columbia Gas Transmission — Gas Line Safety; blood drive conducted by Red Cross.
This event has been created not only for adults but also for adults and children. It is hope that residents can attend to gain further education in safety and dealing with unforeseen disasters.
