MOUNT VERNON — “Greater Tuna” is back for a limited run. CES Credit Union presents The Alcove Theater’s hilarious, award-winning production as Matt Starr and Bruce Jacklin reprise their Tuna, Texas roles in this audience favorite.
What do Arles Struvie, Thurston Wheelis, Aunt Pearl, Petey Fisk, Phineas Blye and Rev. Spikes have in common? In this hilarious send-up of small town morals and mores, they are all among the upstanding citizens of Tuna, Texas' third smallest town, where the Lion’s Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. “Greater Tuna” by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard, is the long-running Off-Broadway hit featuring two actors, Matt and Bruce, creating the entire population of Tuna in a tour de farce of quick change artistry, changing costumes and characterizations faster than a jack rabbit runs from a coyote. Two actors, twenty characters and a barrel of laughs, ya’ll.
Offering behind the scene work is Ian Ernsberger as director, Scott Swingle on technical direction with Carry Swingle as stage manager. Kate Redfield and Bonnie Pickett are costume dressers. Costumes are designed by Chris Aust and Steve Herbst constructing the set.
The production dates are May 17-19 and 25-26. Social hour begins at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 7:30 p.m. and the performance will follow dinner. Saturday, May 26, will also offer a 12:30 matinee.
