MOUNT VERNON A Friendship Night is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge 9 located in The Glenn A. Gallagher Center at The Ohio Eastern Star Home on Gambier Road in Mount Vernon. There will be a speaker with a program on Freemasonry.

Friendship Night is for Masons and non-Masons, their wives and children, and for any invited guests who would like to know more about Freemasonry or may be interested in becoming a Mason.

Freemasonry is the oldest, largest and most widely recognized fraternal organization in the world. Today, there are more than 2 million Freemasons in North America alone. Charity is an important tenet of the Masonic fraternity. The 100,000 Masons in Ohio provide approximately $15 million in charitable giving annually. This year they gave $50,000 in college scholarships, contributed a record $200,000 to the Special Olymics Summer Games and funded $70,000 in free training for hundreds of Ohio schoolteachers to recognize students at non-academic risk. They also provided $12 million in elderly care and helped many needy Ohio families and individuals through their Charitable Foundation.

Those interested in more information should call Galen Neibarger at 740-392-1613 or Robert Atwell at 740-393-3219 or ask any local Mason.

There will be light refreshments available.
