MOUNT VERNON — For those unable to get to the Knox County Health Department during regular business hours, the agency will be open until 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The health department offers extended hours on the third Tuesday of every month.
Services available during the extended hours include birth and death records, water and well permits, water testing, food service permits and WIC nutritional counseling. Medical clinic services available during the extended hours include TB tests, immunizations for both children and adults, including Tetanus shots and all shots required for school; rapid testing for HIV and STD counseling.
The dental clinic will be open for scheduled appointments.
A new activity during the summer months will be farmers’ market which will take place in the health department parking lot from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Several area farmers who participate in area community markets will be onsite to sell locally produced fruits and vegetables. The activity is open to the public whether or not you are coming to the health department for services.
