MOUNT VERNON — For the fifth consecutive year, community members have the opportunity to become a Friend of the Festival. In the past, business sponsorships and regular program income provided the primary funding for the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival. This special program was created in 2008 as a way for individuals to also provide financial contributions to ensure the continuance of the festival from year to year.

Why become a Friend of the Festival? Not only will you be providing a service to others within the community, but the individual Friend of the Festival will also receive a package that includes two reserved seats for The 5th Dimension featuring Florence LaRue concert on Aug. 11, and special individual recognition at the Festival (if requested). The tax deductible donation for the “Friend of the Festival” package is available online by clicking on Friend of the Festival. Forms are also available upon request or at the Festival office at 107 S. Main St. or TheShoppe@TheWoodward at 105 S. Main St. in downtown Mount Vernon.

This special opportunity allows the community members to help perpetuate the festival and enjoy a great concert, particularly in a time when the challenges of the current economy have so significantly impacted business and industry.

Individuals are now able to help make it possible to continue to bring in the great musical groups that make the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival a success. Donations of any size are welcome for membership as a Friend of the Festival.

The 2012 Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival runs August 9-12 in downtown Mount Vernon with various activities each day. This year’s Festival is made possible through the contributions of Ariel, First-Knox National Bank, and Time Warner Cable. For additional information, contact the Festival at (740) 392-FEST (3378) or email at
