FREDERICKTOWN — Try-outs for the Fredericktown Tomato Show Lip Sync Contest will be held in the commons area of the Fredericktown School on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Signs will be posted.

The contest is open to the world. However, anyone up to 15 years of age must audition for the Thursday, Sept. 6 event. There will be no walk-ons during the Tomato Show unless the participant is 16 or older.

Participants must bring their own music selection on a CD plus their own costumes and props. A CD player will be provided. Participants should come prepared to perform a three-minute entry.

Anyone in the 16 or older categories may pre-register by calling Chris Well at 501-1288. Also, 16 and older may register the evening of the event, beginning at 6:30 in front of the First-Knox National Bank.

In order to insure a family-oriented show, the committee may request to see written lyrics.

Age groups and categories of both solo/duet and group for the Lip Sync are:

•16 years of age – older (adults)

•12 – 15 years of age

•9 -11 years of age

•0 through 8 years of age

The order of the performances is at the discretion of the committee. In solo/duet and group entries, the participants will compete in the category of their oldest member. In all of the age categories 0 – 15, an individual may participate in one performance as a solo/duet and one performance as a group. Those participants 16 and older may participate in more than one category.

Cash prizes will be awarded for the first four places in each class. There will also be a Director’s Award for the best overall performance, a Best Costume Award and a Best Theme Award – “Live Like There’s No Tomorrow.”
